Have to admit first saw this restaurant on instagram and decided to have dinner here before going to see Peter Pan at Pantages and it did not disappoint. The aesthetics of the restaurant mirrors the kaido roads of the edo period. Walking into the restaurant made me feel like I was back in Japan. They have a couple of booth seating available that provides both the ambiance and the privacy needed for any occasion. We had the kobachi appetizer plate which is a 9 appetizer sampler. You can eat these appetizers in between sushi bites as palate cleansers as well. All tasted really good. My personal favorites were the mashed potatoes, green beans, and sweet potatoes. For the main course we had the sashimi mori plate that included salmon, yellow tail, sea bream, tuna, mackerel, and halibut. The presentation of each sashimi top Individual rock mounds over ice was so beautiful. We also got the seafood udon. Udon was cooked well, really flavorful and seafood was tender and juicy. It was not bad but definitely was outshined by the sashimi. Overall great experience and would definitely come back and try more things on their inventive menu.

Took myself to dinner and came here for some sushi it's a smaller restaurant located in a mall plaza next to sumí sumí ice cream. It was a quiet night at the restaurant but a vibe for me. I loved that they were playing Frank Sinatra's "a night in Singapore." I ordered the protein roll and while those usually fill me up since there's no rice, I should've ordered more because it only came with 5 rolls. I'll be coming back to try the other menu items!

We came to celebrate mother's day early and we could not be happier about our choice to dine here. Food: EVERYTHING was so bomb. All the rolls we got were either from the tempura or baked rolls sections, so I can't speak for the fresh/raw rolls, but I actually think this is the most well-made specialty rolls I've ever had. Everything just melted in my mouth. The sauce in taste and amount wasn't overpowering; it didn't get too sickly sweet after a few bites, like how some places tend to get when they douse their rolls with the sauce. -Baked salmon roll: always my go-to, excellent -Salmon salsa roll (!!!): tastes like a burrito, topped with sour cream and pico de gallo omg -Crunchy dragon roll -Sapporo roll: basically a baked salmon roll with cream cheese -Regular dragon roll I would honestly recommend all of these rolls. They were equally delicious. For appetizers, we got -green beans shrimp shumai -scallop dynamite I would personally pass on the green beans and shrimp shumai next time; they weren't bad, but nothing special. The scallop dynamite HOWEVER -- if you like cheese, this is the one for you. One bite and I was in cheese heaven. Service: We came close to opening, and we were seated right away. The servers were great. The food came out pretty quickly and the presentation was beautiful as well. Ambiance: A little dim lighting inside, with soft light above each table. It's nice and quiet. Perfect for either a date, lunch with friends, a nice meal with family. Clean and well maintained. Can't wait to be back!

My friend and I truly enjoyed our dining experience at California Rock'n Sushi. It is located on the 2nd floor of Madang on Western & Wilshire. We arrived at approximately 8pm and were immediately greeted and seated at a booth. I fell in love with the dimmed but cozy and nostalgic atmosphere. I love the big band music that they play in the background. It makes me feel like I'm transported back in time to the 20th century, while enjoying authentic Japanese food in Koreatown. My friend and I ordered our own bento boxes, which offers an extensive selection. I ordered my bento box with Chicken Teriyaki and Avocado Roll. Props to Jake for greeting us, leading us to our booth and taking our orders. I also love that he graciously poured our water onto fancy goblets. Our orders were ready within 7-10 minutes. The chicken teriyaki was tender, sweet but not overpowering. The tempura is crunchy but not greasy, while the avocado roll had generous portions of avocado. I also love their side salad, miso soup and steamed rice. I thought I was gonna take some to-go, but I ended up finishing all the items. The two item dinner combo can cost upto $30 (plus tip) but is truly worth it because of their excellent service and phenomenal taste and ambiance. I will bring my friends, family and colleagues here if we all want an authentic yet fancy experience eating authentic Japanese food in KTown. Y'all are truly rocking it at California Rock'n Sushi LA!
